My Senior Project at Weber State

I majored in Information Systems & Technology at Weber State University. For my senior project, fellow student Tom Neiswanger and I worked with the Red Cross and United Way of Northern Utah to build a database and website that could gather and store information about the special needs population that would be useful for planning and executing emergency response scenarios in northern Utah.
As the project developed, it caught the attention of statewide humanitarian and emergency aid agencies, as well as the state itself. We got to meet a number of times with some of the dedicated volunteers and full time leaders of these groups. As for as school projects go, this one was pretty cool. There was even a press release that was covered in the news.
I recently stumbled across the site, Special Needs Registry, which has been overhauled and modernized. The older (cached) version looks like it was retired sometime in 2019. But for 2005, it was a highly dynamic form that I felt was pretty hot stuff for a beginning dev.
